Chair of Governance Partnership Body Welcome
My name is Philip Malsbury and I am the appointed Chair of Governors for Mayplace Primary School.
This is my third year as Chair but for those who don't know me, it is worth sharing a little background about myself. I am, first and foremost, a parent of three children. My youngest child is at Mayplace although my elder two children were also at Mayplace previously before they moved onto secondary school.
I became involved in School Governance a few years ago as I wanted to help support Mayplace School to ensure the best education for my children as well as others using my skills and knowledge from my "day" job. I have always had an interest in Education but was never brave enough (or qualified!) to be a teacher so being a Governor was a good substitute.
As well as chairing the Governing Body, I also attend meetings at the Primary First Trust with other school’s Chairs of Governors and the CEO of the Trust. I also take an active role in many and varied Trust meetings and conferences, to ensure that there is a continuous two-way flow of information and that Mayplace is meeting and fulfilling the aims jointly agreed for all Trust schools and children's outcomes.
Last year, we were lucky enough to see our new KS1 building open which I know has been fantastically well received by parents and children alike. However, we also had a significantly challenging situation with lockdown. I was so proud to see our School pull together to ensure that all our children had the opportunity to continue their education from home.
This year will continue to be a challenging year but please rest assured, myself and the Board of Governors will be giving all the support that is possible to the School to help ensure the best outcome for all our children.
