Reading for Pleasure
At Mayplace, we feel it is crucial to create and foster a Reading for Pleasure culture in every school. Pupils and adults in school are knowledgeable of a range of non-fiction, contemporary & classic fiction and poetry and book-talk is a key feature of all classrooms. Daily ERIC times allow pupils to read to adults in class and discuss the books they are reading.
We have recently installed a brand new library in school which has been populated with a wide array of exciting texts through kind donations from parents. Children are provided the opportunity to visit the library regularly with their class to read independently and with friends, as well as discuss books with their teacher who will also read to the children in order to further foster a passion for the written word. Our collection of books is still growing!
